I bought this a while back, but just now occurred to me to leave a review. I’ll do my best to be impartial, but obviously from the 5 stars I like it a lot.
BLUF: It’s basic in function, but solid construction and lack of any extras increase durability imo.
Pros:
•Barebones. No fancy quick release features, so they can’t interfere with activities when wearing.
•Solid construction. Feels heavy-duty without feeling heavy, very solid stitching and overall quality.
Cons:
•Barebones. If you need or desire a quick release system, obviously this will not serve your needs. There is nothing special for the shoulders, like what you might find on a Crye JPC.
•Donning/Doffing. With the rig clipped in, it can make it somewhat a hassle to take off the plate carrier.
•Drag handle. This does have a drag handle, that has Velcro to make it be slim lined. While this is nice, it raises the question of how functional it might be in a situation where you’re needing to use it as intended.
I ordered this alongside the Easy Rig(both in ATACS-IX), with the intent of attaching the rig to the plate carrier. I don’t recall how long the shipping took, but I don’t recall it being a noteworthy wait. It arrives in “some assembly required,” which was hell on my weak baby fingers, but not impossible. The Cummerbund is attached to the back of the PC using molle, allowing you to determine the size. While I don’t do so, I would personally imagine the carrier would be fine if you wore a vest underneath it. The construction is solid, with the hypalon material keeping the laser-cut molle in good shape, if a tiny bit more difficult to thread through due to rigidity, however I would personally choose harder assembly with more strength to it.
The elastic holding the plates in place is solid, with enough difficulty that I’m confident the plates(civvie size 10×12) will stay nice and tight, as well as hold the vented trauma pads from First Spear behind the plates just fine. The plate carrier is largely feature free, with the main highlights only being the rubbery backing to the cordura and the design to allow clip-on rigs. This may or may not be what you’re looking for; I also purchased a PC from elsewhere that had the tube quick-release at the shoulders and found it unpleasant when shouldering my rifle, leading me to this. I personally plan to buy more from here when the disposable income becomes available, due to the quality this plate carrier and the rig have.
